EU Launches Advisory Mission in Armenia Amid Regional Tensions

The European Union has officially commenced a new civilian advisory mission in Armenia, stepping up its involvement in the South Caucasus. The mission began operations on July 13, 2026, following the Armenian government’s request for increased institutional support.

Led by Cosmin Dinescu, the EU mission aims to strengthen Armenia’s government resilience and capacity, particularly in response to ongoing regional and security challenges. Discussions between Dinescu and Armenian officials focused on setting priority cooperation areas and optimizing the mission's advisory impact across government agencies.
